I still have no job.

If I were to go to confession tomorrow, I’d start off with something like this: “bless me father for I have sinned… it has been weeks since I’ve paid my credit card bills, and I’ve stopped answering anything on my phone that doesn’t come from a local area code.”

Needless to say, I feel pretty low about myself right now.

You’d better be sitting down for this one:

That’s right. I woke up crazy early today and started my day off walking on the lake. This is doubly impressive when you consider I spent all day yesterday helping a friend move, and today I get to make my little shoebox look like a home thanks to all the stuff she gave me:

I am unemployed, in a waiting period with the renderings, putting together bits and pieces of my portfolio, and have NO excuse what-so-ever to not throw on my fancy running shoes and get out on the lake tomorrow.
How do I actually do it though? How do I not give in to the “I’ll go tomorrow”s that I’ve been giving myself all year?
The truth of the matter is, even if I could have afforded the hotel, I probably wouldn’t have made it past the first mile in Maui.
They say it takes 11 days to make something a habit - I can’t even get myself to do ONE day.
Help?

Ok, it might be tied for first place, but.. damn.
Proposal in foamcore.
Incidentally, this is my other favorite proposal:
Animated proposal.
It should go without saying I am in that whole I wish I had a boyfriend mindframe right now.

I wish there were exciting things to report, but alas, the only things even remotely worth mentioning are that I just finished watching every episode of Coupling, and that I’m about half way through knitting the Very Cropped Top Hoodie. An online friend referred to her recent times as “funemployment”, and when Andi reminds me of all the things I said I wanted to do while unemployed and that I’m not doing them… well… I don’t know what to say about it.
I am ready for things to change, and I’ve so got to find a way to get my mind to move over my matter.

The job search continues.
In the interim, I’ve been poking around on myspace and have managed to find 4 out of my 5 cousins. In addition, the one missing cousin? She has a son. This son somehow went from being a baby to a freshman in high school like something out of a daytime soap opera. Seriously. I can remember the conversation when we all found out my cousin was pregnant- ooh scandal. She was 17, unwed, about to finish high school. Now her son is in High School - and on Myspace.
Makes me feel my age, that’s for sure.

I was just reading a story of a woman about to embark on a journey across the pacific in a row-boat, thinking how amazing this story is, and suddenly remembering the time for the Maui Marathon is drawing near. Ironically enough, I have more time on my hands these days and probably wouldn’t of had to worry much about taking time off work.
I’m still inspired for 2008, though… I hope to be posting about this more.

Since this is the weekend, I suppose I can’t count today as my second day unemployed, though I’ve done pretty much the same thing today as I did yesterday: woke up, did some small things around my place, took a nap.
I’ve done more today than yesterday though as I also cleaned the litterbox, rid my fridge of some scary-ass-leftovers/science experiments, and did some laundry AND even put it away. But, I also took a good nap too.
I’m now trying to talk J into coming up this way because nothing says motivation like your ex seeing your apartment for the first time in forever. The second he suggests PBR and Jaimeson at I-town though, the motivation will probably end.
Here’s what I plan for Monday: I will wake up, send out my resume, call my headhunters, then - I will grab my bike, head over to the beach and plop myself with a book and something to wear in the water. It’s summer, I might as well enjoy the moments I can.

Yeah… today is my last day of guaranteed work.
Where did that juju train go?
(Oh, speaking of the juju train, what I had really hoped to happen? That I would get the job with the company I’ve called ‘the mother ship’? Yeah, got the letter on Saturday - no job for me.)

I figured in addition to my Saturday recap, I should at least mention what other bands I saw. For the record, you know?
Friday
Carey Ott (just a couple songs)
Soulive (sat off in the distance for them)
Son Volt (Again, off in the distance, but they were great!)
The Polyphonic Spree (Awesome, awesome, awesome!)
Electric Six (cool, but better on cd)
The Rapture (More cowbell!)
Satellite Party (He did all the best Jane’s Addiction and Porno for Pyros songs.. Pets!)
LCD Soundsystem (Still sinking in the whole festival experience)
Daft Punk (Words would not do them justice!!)
Saturday
See previous post.
Sunday
Juliette & The Licks (She stage-dove!!)
A bit of The Cribs, David Vandervelde, and Rodrigo y Gabriella
Smoosh (Just 3 songs… better in person than on cd I think)
Amy Winehouse (She showed!)
Paolo Nutini (I heard New Shoes then took a nap!)
Iggy and the Stooges (He’s hot from the neck down.)
Peter Bjorn & John (Their power went out after a song and a half, but came on just before the end… of course they sang Young Folks!)
My Morning Jacket (At this point I was just waiting for Pearl Jam)
TV On the Radio (See above)
Pearl Jam (fireworks, Eddie Vedder…. amazing!)
